Mountains Edge Construction has been doing landscaping, concrete, and snow removal in Calgary and area for over 15 years. Owners Randy and Dave have established a strong reputation in the community and have managed to retain many long-term employees. Currently, we are looking to add a Landscape Labourer to help with landscape construction this summer and fall.

Job Overview

Landscaping Labourers perform work to assist in the construction of landscapes and related structures, and to maintain lawns, gardens, and other areas of residential and commercial landscaped areas. Landscaping performed by Mountains Edge Construction may involve skid steer operation. We do our best to keep the entire team busy doing whatever work is available. • Rested, alert, and physically prepared.

• Knowledgeable about company and site rules.

• Wears personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Uses safety equipment, operates in a safe manner and has received adequate instruction in the safe use of the equipment.

• Has a desire to learn.

• Skilled and works to improve skills.

• Knows 2-3 steps ahead.

• Capable of effective communication with crew members, supervisors, and other colleagues.

• Ability to prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines.

• Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to follow directions/plans outlined for each job.

• Willing to help crews with all physical tasks that may be required on the work site.

• Respect for fellow co-workers is a must.

Job Tasks

• Spread top soil, lay sod, spread decorative gravel and/or mulch, grass, shrubs and trees, place decorative stones and perform other duties to assist with the construction of a landscape and related structures 

• Move soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and perform related duties to assist in landscaping grounds: Digs holes for plants and trees, using pick and shovel.

• Cut grass, rake, fertilize and water lawns, weed gardens, prune shrubs and trees and perform other maintenance duties as directed by supervisor.

• Operate and maintain company vehicles. Ability to operate a skid steer for excavation and grading is considered an asset.

• Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments.

 

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a landscaping role and familiarity with the operation of landscaping equipment.

• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driver abstract.

• Experience with a truck and trailer and/or a Skid Steer is considered a huge asset.

• Transportation to and from our yard located in the South Foothills Industrial area off of Barlow near Glenmore.
